Afghan Allies Support: In cooperation with Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, we are supporting an Afghan Allies Resettlement Team that is welcoming an Afghan family. Between the two congregations, rental funds and nearly all of the needed furniture have been covered, but the group also has pledged to cover stocking the family’s pantry, providing cell phone and internet service and providing a welcome home meal from a local Afghan restaurant. If you would be willing and able to contribute to these efforts, you can make a donation to CTS, marked Afghan Allies.

Bread for the World: Each year, people of faith write letters and emails to their members of Congress who have the power to impact the policies and programs that can end hunger. By taking part in Bread for the World’s 2023 Offering of Letters, you will help make nutrition for mothers and children a priority in our own country and abroad. The Offering of Letters website has flexible tools to help plan your letter writing event.

ELCA World Hunger: More than 820 million people – that’s about 11 percent of people in our world today – are hungry. As members of the ELCA, we are called to respond. We are a church that rolls up our sleeves and gets to work.

Gifts of Hope: is an alternative gift-giving program sponsored by the Metro DC Synod of the ELCA Operating since 1992, Gifts of Hope has raised and disbursed almost $4 million to two church camps, four ministries, three international companion synods, and ten local social service agencies affiliated with the Synod. These funds have helped the homeless, the hungry, the young, the elderly, immigrants, refugees, jobseekers, seminary and college students. CTS participates by promoting these alternative gifts, especially during Advent and Christmas.
